Wedding Day First Looks | Minnesota Wedding Photographer

Should you do a First Look on your Wedding Day?

The tradition of not seeing your significant other before the ceremony is long gone, making way for the new shift towards first look photos. Unlike traditional ceremonies, these photos take place before the actual wedding begins, giving the couple special time together before the festivities of the big day. Here are my top 4 reasons you should incorporate a first-look session before your wedding day

  1. Intimate Moment for the Couple. Amidst the busy day filled with family and friends, the first look photo is an exceptionally intimate moment shared just between the two of you (and me, of course)! Not only does it give you time together during your otherwise hectic and crowded ceremony, but it may also help calm your nerves before the wedding begins.

  2. More photo opportunities. Your day is hectic. It goes by fast. Rather than rushing your time after the ceremony, you have the chance for more photo opportunities rather than just at golden hour. Allowing more time for couples photos prior to the ceremony can give you additional opportunities for shots with your family and friends before the reception.

  3. Easier timeline. Not only will there be more photo opportunities, but it will also make the timeline of your day easier. Instead of rushing your photo time between the ceremony and the reception, you have additional time for your couple and wedding party photos before the ceremony.

  4. Look your best. Because the first look shot happens before the ceremony, it’s when you look your best! Fresh hair. Fresh makeup. No longer worry about your runny mascara post-ceremony or dirty wedding attire. You and your fiance are sure to look your best for these photos.

While there are many opportunities for bridal party photos and photos at the reception, you will only have one opportunity for a first look photo. Don’t allow it to pass without capturing that memory.
